TAMPA - A former postal worker turned much of the city into a demolition derby Monday evening. Tampa Police said.

Police charged Ross Urso with deliberately ramming cars along several of Tampa's busiest streets, including one marked police cruiser.

It began on Columbus Drive, when police say Urso deliberately rammed a Tampa International Airport  Police squad car. According to the police report, Urso  "continued to travel for several miles striking several motorists over an approximately 3-4 mile path."

Urso, who told police he was a postal clerk at the Tampa International Airport branch, was charged with 16 counts of aggravated battery with a motor vehicle.

By the time police arrived on the scene, Urso was out of his car and walking along Kenendy Blvd. According to a police report, Urso attacked the first responding officer and broke his thumb.

Urso was eventually taken into custody and additionally charged with two counts of aggravated battery on a police officer and two counts of obstructing a police officer.

Police say Urso told them he went on the damaging run because, "He was tired of being run off the road."

Urso appeared before a Hillsborough County judge Tuesday morning and was ordered held without bond.
