TAMPA - In a parody of the holiday jingle, Deck the Halls, the Tampa Police Department is releasing their own tune, Deck the Malls, to kick off their holiday shopping crime prevention efforts, just in time for Black Friday.
In a YouTube video, Tampa’s finest get into character, singing and acting out scenarios about how to avoid becoming victims of shopping crimes.
Shoppers are reminded about the dangers of leaving packages and other valuables in their vehicles.
Operation “Jingle Bell ROC” will also be in full effect to beef up security at Westshore Mall, International Plaza, the Dale Mabry Retail Corridor and Hyde Park Village during holiday shopping season.
Law enforcement presence will heighten with officers on horseback, motorcycles, RNC bicycles, golf cart-style utility vehicles and unmarked patrol cars around malls and parking lots.
Officers will patrol in the shopping areas through January 1.
