TAMPA - A 24-year veteran of the Tampa Police Department was terminated late last month after he allegedly had sex in the back of his unmarked squad car.
According to the Tampa Police Department, Corporal Scott Guffy was being monitored by investigators after they received a complaint of potential criminal activity at Al Lopez Park.
On December 29th, investigators observed Duffy taking off his tactical vest and gun belt while at Al Lopez Park before getting in the back seat of his cruiser.
Once Guffy was inside, a sun shade was placed across the front windshield.
Investigators engaged Duffy and a woman, who is in her mid-20's, shortly afterwards. Investigators said she was not his wife.
Guffy didn't deny the activity and was surprised that he was being investigated.
"I'm very disappointed," said Chief Castor at a news conference on Monday.
Guffy was relieved of duty and resigned immediately. Guffy will still be eligible for his pension, which is around $60,000 per year.
