TAMPA - Tampa Police say 58-year-old Ronald Adkins turned in front of officer Jeff Bartlett Tuesday evening, causing a crash that sent both men to the hospital.

Officer Bartlett was driving west on Busch Boulevard, and had the green light and the right of way at 22nd St., when Adkins, coming east, turned left in front of the patrol car.

Both were transported to Tampa General Hospital. Bartlett has non-life-threatening injuries, while Adkins is in critical, but stable, condition.

The wreck knocked a traffic signal out of service, and completely closed down westbound Busch Blvd. One eastbound lane is open.
