TAMPA - Tampa Police have arrested the gunman who they believe shot and killed a man early on Saturday morning.

Officers responded to a shooting at Salem's Gyro at 1611 N. Nebraska Ave just before 4:00 a.m.

Police say 23-year-old Jordan Hill approached 25-year-old Hipolito Padilla III while he was standing in the drive-thru lane window talking to friends.

Hill then shot Padilla in the upper torso. He was transported to Tampa General Hospital, where he later died.  Padilla was the son of a veteran Tampa Police officer, accordiing to police spokeswoman Laura McElroy.

Officials say the restaurant's surveillance camera captured video of Hill fleeing on foot toward Nebraska Avenue. The restaurant was open at the time of the shooting and customers were inside. This afternoon, officers were searching for the suspect when they spotted him jumping a fence near his mother's home on Poplar Avenue shortly after 2:00 p.m.

They took him into custody without incident. They also recovered a handgun.

Detectives interviewed Hill, and when they showed him the surveillance footage of the crime, they say he admitted robbing, shooting and killing the victim in the gyro shop parking lot early this morning. He also told detectives that the recovered handgun was the one used in the crime.

Hill was transported to the Hillsborough County Jail and charged with First Degree Murder, Armed Robbery and Felon in Possession of Firearm.  Tampa Police posted the videos below on YouTube in their efforts to identify the suspect.
