YBOR CITY, Fla. - Tampa Police are investigating after an altercation at an Ybor City nightclub led to an employee's murder early Friday morning.

Officials say Ricky Ligons, an employee at Club Ice, and another person got into some sort of argument at the club, located at 1704 N. 17th Street.

The argument continued outside in the parking lot and the suspect pulled out a gun and shot  24-year-old Ligons in the chest just after 2:30 a.m., police say.

When officers arrived, they found the victim lying on the pavement of the parking lot, suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim was taken to a hospital where he later died.

On the club's Facebook page, managers wrote that Ligons didn't deserve to be killed.

"Rick was and ALWAYS will be a part of OUR family and we are doing EVERYTHING in our power to help catch the person that did this... He did not deserve this, he loved life and will be DEARLY missed," the post read.

Homicide detectives are conducting interviews.
