CITRUS PARK, Fla. - A 24-year-old man who thought he was meeting a 10-year-old girl at the Citrus Park Mall was met by undercover law enforcement instead.
Christopher Michael Barnes of Tampa was arrested Thursday afternoon. The St. Petersburg Times reports that he is charged with using a computer to solicit a parent/guardian for consent of sex with child, traveling to meet a minor and using computer sexual battery.
According to the report, Barnes solicited an undercover agent that he believed to be a parent for sex with their child.
Around 2:30 p.m., the suspect went to Citrus Park Mall, the designated meet-up location, and contacted who he believed to be the child's mother. He was arrested at the scene.
Agents are looking into other possible communications Barnes may have had with other children.
Barnes is being held without bail.
His hearing is scheduled for Monday.
