TAMPA - TECO will be sending about 90 people to Louisiana to help the local power companies restore power in the wake of Hurricane Isaac.
When Hurricane Isaac hit Louisiana Tuesday night, the slow moving storm’s high winds caused extreme power outages along the Gulf Coast.
More than 700,000 are still without electricity, according to a TECO statement.
About 40 lineman and 50 support personnel from Tampa Electric will leave on Friday afternoon for the two day drive.
Tampa Electric is a member of the Southeastern Electric Exchange, or SEE, a network of utilities who pledge mutual assistance in case of storm or other emergency.
