TAMPA - Monday marks the opening of Tampa’s domestic partnership registry for heterosexual and homosexual unmarried couples.
Among other rights afforded to married couples, the registry will allow people in domestic partnerships to have the same hospital visitation rights as a patient’s child.
Partners will also be allowed to make health care decisions on behalf of the other partner if he or she is incapacitated.
Mayor Bob Buckhorn will be present at 9:00 a.m., when the first day of the registry begins.
For the first two weeks, starting Monday, June 25 until Friday, July 6, registration will be from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Office of the City Clerk.
Starting Monday, July 9, registration hours change to 10:00 a.m. through 3:00 p.m.
Registrants cannot make an appointment to register, and both registrants must be present to sign up.
The registration fee is $30.
