TAMPA - The racing pigs are warming up to entertain you at the Florida State Fair starting on Thursday.
The 12-day state fair features all kinds of family fun, including music, a circus, more than 100 rides on the Midway and, of course, plenty of yummy fair food.
Florida Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam says the state fair also gives the Tampa area an economic boost.
“The 12 days of the Florida State Fair actually contribute over $140 million to the local economy. That’s people spending their money, that’s wages and salaries, it’s just all the ripple effects that come from that wonderful gem of an entertainment opportunity right there in our backyard,” Putnam said.
The Florida State Fair runs from February 10 through February 21. The fair will also feature fireworks shows on Friday and Saturday nights starting at 8:30.
