Some Bucs are teaming up to fight senior hunger and help local food banks provide 100,000 meals to hungry seniors throughout west central Florida.
On Tuesday, September 27th from 10am to 11:15am Tampa Bay Buccaneers players, cheerleaders and team mascot, Captain Fear, are joining more than 100 UnitedHealthcare employees to pack food boxes at Feeding America Tampa Bay located at 4702 Transport Drive, Building 6 in Tampa.
These activities are part of UnitedHealthcare's "Do Good. Live Well." employee-volunteer initiative and AARP Foundation's broader "Drive to End Hunger" program.
About 9 million older adults nationwide face the threat of hunger, and one in five Floridians reported not having enough money to buy food during the last year. Florida ranks 24th among all states for risk of senior hunger, with more than 5 percent of the state's seniors at risk of being affected, according to AARP.
