TAMPA - Superstorm Sandy may be winding down, but millions across the East Coast have been impacted by its devastating blow.

At least 56 people in the U.S. died as a result of the storm, about 4.9 million are still without power and the property damage estimates top $20 billion, according to Forbes.

ABC Action News teamed up with the Red Cross, taking action for victims with a special a phone bank to accept donations for storm victims. 

The phone bank was open for eight hours Thursday, and you donated $37,787 during that time.

The American Red Cross is helping people across 13 states with safe shelter, food and comfort as part of a huge disaster response to Sandy.
