TAMPA - A man who led police on a highway chase was treated for bite wounds after a K9 was sent after the suspect just before 3:00 Monday morning.

An officer was behind a Callidac on Fowler Avenue in Tampa when he searched the driver’s tag and found out the vehicle had been stolen in Polk County.

The officer tried to pull the driver over, but the suspect bolted for I-75. From there, he connected to the I-4, then Thonotosassa Road.

Police had to perform a PIT maneuver on the driver’s car four times before a tire blew on Foldfinch Drive in Plant City.

When the chase came to an end, the driver tried to run away and a K9 was sent after him. The dog bit the suspect and he was taken into custody. He was treated for the bite.

Charges are pending.
