TAMPA, Fla. - David Williams kept his mouth shut and refused to answer any questions as he was led into jail, 34 months after the death of Ryan McCall.
It's a moment the McCall family says puts them one step closure to closure.
"Just puts another human feeling to everything that's happened so far," said Kevin McCall, Ryan's dad.
Ryan McCall was killed in August 2009 as the University of Tampa student his friend were walking home from a party a a local bar. Nearly three years later, Kevin McCall says he's ready to face his son's accused killer.
"We get to see who he is now, physically, other than just a picture," McCall said.
Mug shots are the only pictures McCall's family has seen of Williams since he was charged with the murder last month.
The 22-year-old has an extensive criminal history, and was out of prison for less than a month when Tampa Police say he shot McCall to death.
Just a few weeks after the murder, he was back in prison again on another robbery conviction.
Police say it was fellow inmates that gave investigators the tips they needed to charge Williams with McCall's murder, adding he was a person of interest since day one.
With the accused killer now back in Tampa, McCall's father says he's ready for the next phase of justice.
"The legal system is another hurdle," McCall said. "I believe in it, I'm pretty confident."
Police say Williams admitted to robbing McCall and his friend, but claims he never killed anyone.
He's now charged with first-degree murder, armed robbery and attempted armed robbery.
