TAMPA - Two construction workers are recovering after a hit-and-run overnight in South Tampa.
Tampa Police say it happened near the intersection of Dale Mabry and San Carlos in front of Plant High School around 1:30 Tuesday morning.
According to police, Michael Madson, 48, was operating a paint-striping machine at the intersection when someone driving a silver, four-door Mitsubishi hopped the curb and hit the machine, which sent Madson flying out onto the ground.
Another worker tried to chase the driver of the Mitsubishi as he fled the scene, but was unable to keep up with him. He was able to give police a vague description of the suspect, a Hispanic male with dark hair and a small stature.
Madson was taken to Tampa General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Another worker, Craig Walls of LaSalle, Ill., was treated at the scene.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Tampa Police at 813-276-3200.
