Slow home sales highlight uneven recovery in housing market

TAMPA - Home sales are down in Florida, highlighting an uneven recovery for the housing market.

Sales of existing homes dropped 15 percent statewide in November, according to the Florida Association of Realtors. In Tampa, sales dropped 10 percent and in Jacksonville they plunged 17 percent.

Home prices are down too. The median price for existing homes fell from 139,000 to about 132,000 – a drop of five percent over the past year.

Realtors report condominium sales are up 11 percent across the state. Buyers are getting some good deals.

The median price for a condo dropped to $88,000 in November. That was down from $104,000 one year ago.
