TAMPA - A rumor that a feud between two middle students in New Tampa could turn violent sparked a major response from law enforcement.
Tampa police were all over Liberty Middle School's campus Friday morning, responding to a call after the assistant principal heard a rumor that a student was planning to bring a gun to school to settle a dispute.
ABC Action News reporter Ellen McNamara talked with a dad who dropped his autistic son off and saw all the commotion. He was upset about not being told what was going on.
"My son can't defend himself like a normal child and that makes me a little more uneasy especially sitting here knowing and watching the helicopters and the cops haven't left yet...there's a problem," he said.
No weapons were found and school continued as usual.
