TAMPA - Next weekend, the Red Bull Wake Open will draw the best wakeboarders in the world to the Tampa Bay area.
They'll be competing in three categories: Park, Boat, and Big Air - athletes will be judged on overall impression and a score-based system with single elimination qualifiers in this three-day event.
Residents and visitors are welcome to watch the event live at the Tampa Convention Center as part of the Red Bull Signature Series.
The Tampa Bay Sports Commission is a charitable corporation that works hard to bring events like this one to the area, to promote tourism and boost the local economy.
Executive Director, Rob Higgins, tells ABC Action News the Tampa Bay Sports Commission acts as the agency that bids on major events like the NCAA tournament, national title playoff for college football, and Super Bowl games.
Look out next Saturday, July 14 - when ABC Action News contributor Sean Daly reports live from the event!
