TAMPA - Authorities are investigating a Tampa home invasion and car theft that ended in a police chase early Friday morning.
The incident began with a break-in at the Andover Apartments on the 4800 block of E Busch Boulevard just before 12:50 a.m.
Shakina Ash, 24, and Bernadis Kelly, 19, were at home inside their apartment when, they told police, five armed men kicked in the door.
The victims weren’t hurt, but the suspects stole two cell phones, two television sets and a set of keys.
Two suspects entered one of the victim’s cars and got away.
Police pursued the vehicle for some time, even going through Ybor City. The suspects bailed out of the car at 30th Street and Cayuga Street.
Police took one of the two suspects from the car into custody, and continue to search for the second suspect seen in the car.
There is no word from police on the other three suspects said to be involved in the home invasion.
Police said it did not appear to be a random act.
