Police arrest teen in shooting near South Tampa Citgo gas station

TAMPA - Police have identified the man who was shot late Saturday night near the Citgo gas station on Interbay Avenue.

It happened Saturday around 9:20 p.m. in a wooded area at 6225 Martindale Avenue, according to a Tampa Police release.

The victim, Andrew Richards, 18, was shot multiple times in the upper torso and taken to the area of South MacDill Avenue and W. Interbay Boulevard by acquaintances, according to officials.

Richards was taken to the hospital.

Witnesses of the shooting were able to help officers identify Jonathan Torres, 19, as the shooter.

He was located at a Brandon address where police negotiated his surrender.
