TAMPA - The elderly man who police went searching for after he left his assisted living home through a window returned safely Saturday afternoon, police said.
Police say Joel Thome, 68, was at the Central Tampa Assisted Living home on 40th Street attending breakfast in the dining hall.
Sometime after breakfast, he reportedly slipped out of his bedroom window.
After leaving the building, he was last spotted walking east across 40th St, then northbound on 40th Street.
Authorities say that the staff wasn't aware that he was missing until 9:26 a.m., and they checked the area for him.
After Thome didn’t show up, they contacted the police. Police searched for the Thome, to no avail.
Thome ended up returning to the home on his own.
