TAMPA - Tampa Police officers arrested the father of actress Lindsay Lohan on a domestic violence battery charge early Tuesday morning.

Officers responded to a report of a domestic dispute at an apartment in the 2000 block of Lemans Boulevard near International Plaza shortly after 1 a.m..

According to an arrest report, the victim, who was not identified, is Lohan's girlfriend who lives with him.

The woman told officers Lohan wanted a restraining order out of Sarasota County dropped and that the two got into an argument.  Lohan allegedly punched the woman, grabbed her by the arm and smashed her cell phone.

Lohan "threatened to throw her off the fourth story balcony," according to the report, which also indicated the woman received "minor bruising."

During his arrest, Lohan told officers that he was suffering from chest pains. He was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital where he was treated, according to TPD.

Lohan later checked himself out of the hospital and was taken to the Orient Road Jail for booking. He is currently being held without bond.

TPD plans to direct the charges with the Hillsborough County State Attorney's Office.  It will be up to prosecutors to decide whether to pursue charges against Lohan.

Lohan's first court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday, but that could be moved forward.
