TAMPA - Tampa Police are investigating a traffic crash that killed one person and injured several others.

According to investigators,18-year-old Charlotte Sowards was driving a 1997 Cadillac SLS heading west on Wood Street when it collided with a 1992 Honda Civic, which was going south on El Portal Drive.

The impact forced the Honda into a wooden telephone pole, according to Tampa Fire Rescue.

The accident happened around 9:30 p.m. Saturday night.

The driver of the Honda 31-year-old Jason Plummer, died at the scene.

4 passengers,17-year-old Jean P. Flores, 22-year-old Anthony Adams, 15-year-old Daniella Campo, and 16-year-old Alexandria Symbolis, were all taken to area hospitals in serious condition.

One of the male passengers was pinned inside the car and had to be extricated from the wreckage.

Sowards, who was the only person inside the Cadillac, also went to the hospital.

Her injuries are said to be non life-threatening.
