TAMPA - The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Department has arrested two 7th grade students for setting off an acid bomb at Dowdell Middle Magnet School in Tampa.
Investigators said the chemical bomb was thrown during class change.
The incident occurred Tuesday morning on the east side of the campus between buildings.
No students were injured and the bomb did not cause property damage.
School officials considered the incident a serious threat and not a prank, and called the sheriff's office.
The school was placed on lock down as a safety measure.
The two students were taken into custody and charged with possession and discharge of a weapon on school property and disruption of school function.
