Tampa, Fla - Americans love to celebrate holidays. This week, an unusual national holiday is sure to please just about everyone!
July 30, 2010 is National Cheesecake Day!
Mike Pistorino, from The Cheesecake Factory at International Plaza, visited ABC Action News This Weekend to share ideas and recipes with the morning crew.
For cheesecake "lollypops" you will need large wooden sticks, melted chocolate chips for dipping, sprinkles, chopped salty peanuts, chopped english toffee, and chopped candy bars.
1. Begin with your favorite cheesecake. Remove any loose decorations or whip cream rosettes.
2. Cut each cheesecake slice in half down the center.
3. Deeply chill entire cake by placing in freezer for a few hours. Then remove.
4. Place a wooden stick in the center of each half slice of deeply chilled cheesecake.
5. Melt desired amount of chocolate chips on low heat in a saucepan.
6. Holding the wooden sticks, dip the "lollypops" in the melted chocolate. Let excess chocolate drip off.
7. Immediately decorate with sprinkles, chopped nuts, toffee, or any desired topping.
8. Place on wax paper and either eat immediately, or stick all slices back in the freezer to save.
9. "Lollypops" can be stored in the freezer for up to a week.
If you stop into the popular restaurant on July 30, and try the new Reese's Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake Cheesecake, a portion of the proceeds will benefit Feeding America.
