TAMPA - A missing Tampa woman has been found safe more than two hours away in Brevard County, police said.

Authorities received a call about a car blocking the road at 6 a.m. on Monday. Deputies in Brevard County found Cora Hires inside the vehicle. The car's battery had died at the intersection of Micco Road and U.S. Highway 1.

Hires, 73, appeared to be disoriented and was taken to a medical facility for evaluation. Her family planned to go see her, police said.

Hires dropped off her daughter at church at Spruce Street and Albany Street on Sunday. She was going to visit her brother at Whispering Oaks Nursing Home at 15th Street and Chelsea Street, but never showed up.

At the time, Hires' family also said it is unlike her not to return home or contact them.
