TAMPA - If you are a night owl and like scary movies, then plan to be at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park next Friday night as the city begins its summer movie series, Scream on the Green.
The series begins with the classic horror film, The Shining.
The series will run the 3rd Friday of the month in June, July and August.
Dawn of the Dead will be showing July 19 and The Exorcist on August 16.
Scream on the Green is for adults 18 and older because of the mature content of the films.
"For adults, this is a great way to enjoy downtown and Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park. This experience will be something new and different for Tampa, but I think everyone will have a lot of fun," said Mayor Bob Buckhorn.
City officials say they think this kind of midnight movie series is unique to Tampa.
You can buy snacks such as kettle corn, roasted nuts, lemonade, sno-cones and cotton candy. The Wicked 'Wiches food truck will also be on site. Low back chairs, coolers and leashed dogs are allowed. Alcohol is prohibited.

Wildlife officials say 20 whales believed to be part of a pod found stranded in the Everglades this week were spotted Friday afternoon moving closer toward shore, a sign they may be reversing their earlier, positive course.
