Man who robbed New Tampa bank linked to other robberies, say police

TAMPA - A man who robbed a Bank of America in New Tampa may be behind a string of other crimes in the bay area, a Tampa Police spokeswoman said.

Around 12:30 p.m. Monday detectives say the suspect demanded money from a teller at a branch on Amberly Drive and implied that he had a gun.

The teller handed him some money and he fled through the parking lot, police said.

He's described as a white male in his early 30's, 5'11, weighing 170 lbs with a light beard.

Detectives believe he may be responsible for four other robberies in Hillsborough and Pasco counities.
