TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - A Tampa Bay area man faces a 10-year prison sentence for the deaths of his two children.
As part of a deal with Hillsborough County prosecutors, 29-year-old Michael Jon Ervin Jr. pleaded guilty Thursday to two counts of aggravated manslaughter. The Tampa Tribune (http://bit.ly/TdS8Er ) reports that he's scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 22.
Authorities say 18-month-old Zionna Ervin and 5-month-old Kaden Warren appeared lifeless when Ervin brought them to a Brandon hospital in August 2009.
A medical examiner determined the children died of environmental hyperthermia, with elevated core body temperatures of 109 degrees for Zionna and 105 for Kaden.
