Man dies in fiery Tampa crash while police, fire rescue try to save him

The driver in trapped in a fiery vehicle crash died after officials tried to rescue him in Tampa Monday afternoon.

Tampa Police responded to the single vehicle crash at 3808 Martin Luther King Boulevard and the vehicle engulfed in flames at 2:55 p.m.

Officials discovered the driver, 53-year-old Robert Ormsby, trapped inside the car and attempted to put out the fire with extinguishers and 5 gallon buckets.

Tampa Fire rescue responded to the incident to assist, but the attempts to save Ormsby were not successful.

Authorities said the crash began in the 3400 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard and continued east where the vehicle left the road and hit a parked delivery work truck.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
