TAMPA - To the owner, the sound coming from her Toyota Scion didn't sound anything like an engine running.  A peek underneath resulted in a phone call to the Tampa Humane Society.

Turns out a small kitten had managed to become wedged in the engine compartment.

As rescuers worked to free it, they found a second kitten with an injured paw in the engine area.

Both felines were safely extricated and treated for their injuries.  Both will recover in a foster home and will eventually be adopted out.

The feral mother stood by and watched the event unfold.  She was captured and will be spayed and vaccinated.

Her next stop:  A new home with the Scion's owner.
