TAMPA - Lee Roy Selmon's restaurants are all celebrating the official statewide day to commemorate the legendary athlete and founder.
October 20 was Lee Roy Selmon's birthday. Selmon was a Pro Football Hall of Famer and Tampa Bay Buccaneer.
As a special tribute, Lee Roy Selmon's restaurants will donate a portion of the proceeds from some of his favorite dishes to a program at USF called Mentoring U Selmon Style.
During his time at the University of South Florida, Selmon worked tirelessly to mentor student-athletes and empower young adults to believe in themselves on and off the field. Through his example, Mentoring U Selmon Style will continue to influence the lives of future Bulls student-athletes.
In addition to purchasing one of Lee Roy Selmon's favorites, those in the community who would like to honor Selmon's memory by supporting Enhancing U may also make a donation to the University of South Florida directly by visiting www.usf.edu/ua/selmon .
Lee Roy Selmon's currently has eight locations in the Tampa, St. Petersburg, Palm Harbor, Bradenton, Sarasota and Fort Myers communities. For more information, visit http://www.leeroyselmons.com .
