TAMPA - A judge on Monday ordered two mental health experts to evaluate whether Dontae Morris is competent to stand trial.

Morris is accused of killing Tampa Police officers David Curtis and Jeffrey Kocab during a traffic stop in June of 2010.  In addition to those murders, he is also accused of killing three other men during a six-week span.

Morris was in court for Monday's hearing.  The officers' widows and members of the Tampa Police Department also were in attendance.

Police Chief Jane Castor talked with the media about the competency issue.

"Every phase of the trial is a concern," said Chief Jane Castor.  "Frankly, we'll just be happy when it's over and we can have some closure in this event."

The judge is scheduled to hear the findings of the two mental health experts on May 18.
