TAMPA - Taking a cue from former Governor and U.S. Senator Bob Graham, current Florida Governor Rick Scott got to work at a Carrollwood donut shop Wednesday morning.

Scott showed up at Nicola's Donut and Bakery Shop for his first "Let's Get to Work" day.

Scott says he will work at businesses that "mirrors the jobs that he performed" in his earlier years.

Former governor Graham took part in numerous "workdays" during his time in office.

"It was fun," said the Governor. "The people who work in donut shops are nice people."

Customers like Mike Kersmarki -- who happened to be first in line this morning at 6 am thought it was a good PR move.

"I think it's a good tact on his part," he said  "Granted, this has been done before but I think it's a real good idea."

Protestors thought it was a good idea to show up outside the shot and shout at passersby on their way inside to get their morning sugar fix.

"I've had enough donuts, I need a job!"  said one man.

Amy Ritter, who travelled from Orlando to get a crack at the Governor handed him a pink slip -- emblematic, she said,  of the nearly one-million Floridians out of work -- as he handed her a pink donut.

"I don't think him having a photo op in a donut shop is really going to get Floridians back to work."

But it does show that at least he is getting out and connecting with people.  And he told me that this will be a priority from here on out.

"This is the best part of the job," he said. "If you don't like people, you shouldn't be Governor.
