TAMPA - UPDATE:
Tampa's Kennedy Boulevard is now open after the roadway shut down in both directions west of the University of Tampa Tuesday morning due to a natural gas leak.
The closure occurred shortly after 10 a.m.at Newport Avenue which is about four block west of North-South Boulevard. A 300-foot area around the leak was evacuated.
The closure is in effect from Boulevard to Willow.
There's was no immediate word on what caused the leak, which is about two inches in length, or when that section of Kennedy might reopen.
TECO gas personnel were working to repair the leak.
