Tampa police officer involved in struggle, suspect captured

TAMPA - A female Tampa police officer was involved in a struggle with a suspect Friday morning.

The confrontation occurred near Robles Elementary School which was placed on modified lockdown for a time.

It was not immediately clear what lead to the struggle.  The suspect, a black male, took off toward a retention pond.

He was later captured with the assistance of a Hillsborough Sheriff's K-9 unit.

The officer had only minor injuries.

Additional information is expected later today.
