TAMPA - Dontae Morris, accused of killing two Tampa police officers at a traffic stop in June of last year, has been indicted for a fifth murder.
Rodney Jones, 42, was shot and killed during an attempted robbery as he left the Cotton Club on West Albany on May 31.
According to Tampa Police, two men, including Morris, approached Jones and demanded money. Morris then allegedly shot and killed Jones.
Morris, 25, was identified as the gunman through text messages and witness statements. He has been charged with first degree murder.
Detectives are still investigating the second suspect, and an arrest is pending.
In July, Morris was also indicted for the May murder of 21-year-old Derek Anderson and the June murder of 25-year-old Harold Wright.
Morris is currently in jail without bail for the June 29 murders of officers Jeffrey Kocab and David Curtis.
