TAMPA - Tampa detectives are interviewing family and friends to determine why a mother shot and killed her daughter before turning the gun on herself, overnight Thursday.
Deputies responded to a 911 call from 68–year-old Julie Hill at her Tampa home, located at 4526 Grainary Ave.
When they arrived, they found Julie conscious with a single gunshot wound to her chest and a .38 caliber revolver next to her on the ground.
When deputies questioned her, Julie said she shot herself after shooting her daughter, 46-year-old Tracey Hill.
Deputies searched the home and found Tracey in her bedroom with a gunshot wound to the head.
Tracey was pronounced dead at the scene.
Fire Rescue transported Julie to a local hospital, where she died.
Homicide detectives are processing the crime scene.
The 911 tape will not be released at this time pending the conclusion of this investigation.
Detectives continue to interview those close to the deceased to determine what may have led up to the murder-suicide.
