TAMPA - Detectives spent more than three hours at the scene of a reported murder-suicide Monday night.

According to officers, 39-year-old Luis Rodriguez and his girlfriend, 31-year-old Jamie Kimble, had gotten into an argument after he picked her up from the airport Sunday evening.

Rodriguez punched Kimble several times in the car. She jumped out of the car on Cypress Street just west of Westshore Boulevard.

For unknown reasons, the man pulled a gun on the woman and shot her in the middle of the street near Cypress and Occident.

He then got back into his gold sedan and drove down the road for a short distance before shooting himself in the head.

He was taken to a Tampa hospital, where he later died.

Almost a dozen people witnessed the shooting and talked with police.
