TAMPA - A woman drove a car into the Hillsborough River in downtown Tampa Wednesday morning. Police say it was a suicide attempt.
The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. in the area of Kennedy Boulevard and Ashley Street.
When police arrived, the 37-year-old black female had been pulled from the water. She had to be restrained and was taken into custody under the Baker Act, according to a police statement.
Police were working to remove the vehicle, a Ford Taurus, from the water.
