It's "Christmas in July" for the kids at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital, thanks to one member of a local team -- the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Football season may be just around the corner, but that didn't stop Bucs linebacker Quincy Black and and the team's cheerleaders from helping St. Joseph's collect new, unwrapped toys and monetary donations for today's toy drive. The donated items will be used to help comfort and entertain pediatric patients throughout the year.
The toy drive takes place between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. in the circular drive in front of St. Joseph's Children's Hospital at 3001 W. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Black and the Cheerleaders were on hand from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. today to sign autographs and assist donors who dropped off toys at the hospital.
Donation requests include gift cards, electronics, kid-friendly movies, puzzles, arts and crafts supplies, bubbles, infant toys, crib mobiles, teen games and magazines.
