TAMPA - UPDATE: Authorities said the package was only an unattended backpack, not dangerous

Authorities are investigating a suspicious backpack at the Republican National Convention’s concert venue, Liberty Plaza.

The backpack was found on a stairway in the building.

A bomb squad is investigating the scene and officials are diverting people from the area.

The musical group Journey is scheduled to perform at the plaza Thursday night at 9:00 p.m.
