TAMPA - The abused cat who was trapped in the “Kitty Penitentiary” container on Thursday has touched people’s hearts and wallets, racking up $5,000 in donations to find the abuser.
After the cat was rescued, the Humane Society of Tampa Bay offered a cash reward for information leading to the arrest of the person who may have shot the animal with a bb gun, locked it in a container and left it in McKay Bay.
Donations have since been pouring in, adding to the official reward fund spearheaded by the Humane Society. The People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) adding another $2,000 in the pot.
The animal remains in guarded condition.
