SWAT Team disarms St. Petersburg man making threats

ST. PETERSBURG - A SWAT team safely disarmed an armed man who threatened to shoot himself at his St. Petersburg home  Wednesday morning. 

The SWAT team was called to the residence at 526 Villa Grande Ave South, after reports of shots fired near the home, according to the St. Petersburg Police department.

Negotiators spoke to a 58-year-old male, who was standing outside the home, threatening to kill himself with the gun in his hand abour 8:00 a.m.

At least one shot was fired by the male, but no one was hit.

Around 9:00 a.m., he was safely disarmed and taken into custody.
