St. Petersburg police chase, capture suspect in fatal hit-and-run crash

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Police have arrested a suspect in an August 1 hit-and-run crash that killed a St. Petersburg man.

Lorenzo Lynch was confronted by officers at 2nd Avenue and 35th Street around 7 p.m. Wednesday.  He tried to run, but was captured after a brief chase, according to a police statement.

He's now charged in the death of Michael Cerone, who was killed in a crash at 1st Avenue South and 16th Street.

Lynch is charged with Leaving the Scene of a Crash Resulting in Death, Felony Driving on a Suspended License while Causing Death, two counts of Violation of Probation and Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Sell.
