ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - A man who was found dead in a house fire was murdered, according to St. Petersburg police.
An autopsy performed Thursday revealed that 33-year-old Robert Scott Greaves died from blunt force trauma to his upper body prior to the fire.
St. Petersburg police say 60-year-old had Daniel Thomas Papeleo invited Greaves to his home on 13th Street North Wednesday night before the blaze, which investigators say was intentionally set using an accelerant.
Papeleo, who was injured in the fire, is already charged with arson and additional charges are possible, pending the outcome of the investigation.
It's not clear why Papeleo invited Greaves to his home. Investigators have learned that Greaves and a daughter of Papeleo had a child together.
Papeleo remains hospitalized under police guard.
