SP. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Following a four-month long investigation, St. Petersburg Vice and Narcotics Division detectives began a city-wide roundup of suspected drug dealers on Friday morning.

Those targeted, 44 in all, are believed to be dealing in methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine, marijuana, Xanax and hydrocodone, according to a police statement.

The roundup began shortly after 8 a.m.

Those arrested  are being processed at the Maximo Police Resource Center on 34th Street South for questioning. 

According to the release, special emphasis is placed on gun-related crimes as well as firearms possession and distribution.

More information is expected Friday afternoon.
