ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - St. Petersburg homicide detectives are investigating the death of two men found in a fire on Sunday in the Historic Kenwood section of the city.
Firefighters responded to a fire at 2635 4th Avenue North at 1:30 p.m.
Officials say the cause of that fire and the deaths of the two men appears to be suspicious at this time.
The victims are identified as Bruce Johnson, 51, of St. Petersburg and Arthur Regula, 36, of Hudson.
Police discovered one of the victim's vehicles was missing from the scene. The black 2004 Ford pick-up truck was found Monday in the area of Columbus Drive and MacDill Avenue. St. Petersburg homicide detectives responded to the scene.
Fire investigators say the fire began in the back of the house and quickly accelerated. They say the blaze was so intense, the roof started to collapse on the fire crews when they entered the house.
The homeowner was not home at the time of the fire.
