ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The SPCA is offering a $500 reward for the arrest and conviction of the person who left a dog to starve to death.
On Friday a bank representative was checking on a foreclosed home at 14th Avenue South in Saint Petersburg. As she checked the property, she found a nearly 2-year-old pitbull dead, still tethered to the outside of the house.
Investigators say while the house had been vacant for about a year it looks as if the dog died a few days ago. The dog's collar also showed signs she tried to chew her way to freedom.
"All they had to do is just call the SPCA of Tampa Bay and we would of come out and picked the dog up. No question asked," said Jill Purl with the SPCA.
If you have any information on the case call the SPCA at: 727-586-3591 extension 135.
