ST. PETERSBURG - Officials are searching for armed robbery suspects who fled after crashing a hijacked car into a St. Petersburg home overnight.
Officers were investigating an armed carjacking that had just occurred at 1 st Avenue South and 62 nd Street South at 9:37 Monday night.
The victim’s car was taken by two suspects at gunpoint.
An officer spotted the vehicle at 9th Avenue South and 15th Street South just before 10:30 p.m. and a pursuit began.
The officer pursued the vehicle to 22nd Avenue South and 34th Street South. Just west of the intersection, the suspect driving the vehicle lost control and crashed into a house.
Three suspects got out of the vehicle and fled on foot. One underage female passenger was apprehended. She was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries. The other two suspects could not be found. There is no visible damage to the house.
